Product Description

The Mares Tana mask and snorkel set is made from 100% silicone and fits majority of adult faces. Designed for spearfishing, this mask is super low in volume. Being low volume means that there is less air inside the mask when being worn. When heading underwater, you need to equalize, this means you need to equalize the air inside your mask to prevent for mask squeeze. When on scuba diving, this is easier as we have spare air to use from our tanks, however when spear fishing, you are on breathe hold so you need less air in your mask so you dont use up too much breathe equalizing. The Tana Mask is a black silicone skirt aimed at Spear fishing, freedivers and photographers. This is due to the fact that black silicone tunnels you vision. When doing the above sports, you are concentrating on the single item, whether you are about to spear a fish or take that single photo of a small nudibranch. you do not need to be distracted with anything else. Maybe scuba divers will often opt for black silicone also, however, clear silicone is better for letting more light in when diving and snorkeling. The snorkel in the Tana set is a standard 100% silicone snorkel that is super comfortable in your mouth, especially when you have been using it for hours. The Mares Tana mask and snorkel set is a popular pick due to being such great quality at such an affordable price point.

Local Spear Conditions - Tuesday 24th Feb 2015

Finally, after weeks and weeks of swell, bad vis and wind, there looks to finally be a reprieve. Swell is dropping all the way through till Saturday, coupled with South winds to push in the clear water for most of the remainder of the week, this looks weekend looks like it could be good for diving finally. The swell is forecast at 0.8 metres for Saturday with very very light winds. Sunday however is a tad bigger at 1.0 metre but with medium strength Southerly winds. Try jumping in at a protected spot if the wind bothers you, such as The Bower (back of Shelley Beach away from the Marine Park), Dee Why, Warriewood, South Whale Beach and South Palm Beach. We are hoping that this forecast will stay true and everyone finally gets in and re-stocks the freezers! Fingers crossed! Forecast courtesy of www.seabreeze.com.au
